Buried beneath the fantastic Guildhall Art Gallery, you’ll find the 2,000-year-old remains of London’s only Roman amphitheatre. During an archaeological dig in 1988, it was found that the capital's only Roman amphitheatre was located in Guildhall Yard. The surviving remains include a stretch of the stone entrance tunnel, east gate, and arena walls. They are now protected in a controlled environment, 20 feet below the modern pavement. You can visit the site Monday to Sunday and admission is free.
