The reaction to changing his trach always varies but 7 years in, I want him to be more brave and cognizant of his medical needs. I let him cry or whine for a bit because yes, he’s allowed to be sad or dislike it but this is his life right now. It’s not going away just because we want it to. I found that letting him participate in his cares, makes him more accepting of them rather than forcing him to just lay down & take it.
